What is Fue Hair restoration?

FUE stands for Follicular Unit Extraction. Hair transplantation is the redistribution of permanent, living and growing hair follicles from the “Donor” Area into a thinning or balding “Recipient” area of the scalp. FUE is a harvesting technique which is less invasive than traditional strip or linear harvesting. It requires no scalpel or stitches in the Donor Area therefore there is no visible scarring or lines in the scalp which can often be seen in the strip or FUT technique. Recovery from FUE procedures is more comfortable and less restrictive than with linear or strip harvesting. The vast majority of patients require absolutely NO strong pain medications during their recovery and can return to non-impact athletic physical activity in just several days.

Using the SmartGraft™ system, Dr. Straka is proud to be the first and only surgeon in central Ohio to offer his patients the most innovative automated surgical FUE technology available. With this system, individual hair follicles are gently removed by an advanced, suction assisted hand-piece. These follicles are then safely collected and stored in a temperature controlled, sterile holding solution. These hairs remain hydrated and robust, while awaiting implantation. This state of the art machine ensures that the hair follicles are viable and ready for transplantation in the most efficient manner possible.
